KPN eyes Tiscali subscribers

2 Jun 2005

The Dutch telco KPN has confirmed that it is in negotiations with the local arm of pan-European internet service provider Tiscali to take over part of Tiscali’s Dutch customer base. As well as providing high-speed internet services over its own infrastructure, Tiscali Netherlands leases ADSL connections from KPN and it is these users which KPN is in discussions to buy out from the Italian-owned ISP. The customers in question amount to around one third of Tiscali’s Dutch customer base of around 210,000 according to Telecompaper.

Meanwhile, KPN has also revealed that it is reorganizing its call centre operations to reduce costs and increase efficiency. The move will lead to around 630 job losses.
