Banglalink places USD50 million GSM equipment order

Bangladeshi Mobile operator Banglalink has commissioned Siemens Communications to build out its GSM network. Under a two-year frame contract worth USD50 million, Siemens will install turnkey radio and switching systems to extend network capacity to three million subscribers. Bangladesh currently has fewer than five million mobile subscribers, but analysts predict this could rise to 20 million by 2007.
