Mobile users to reach 15 million by year-end

According to the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), General Shahzada Aalam, the total number of mobile phone users in the country will reach 15 million by the end of the year. Aalam said that there had been a ‘phenomenal increase’ in subscribers during the first five months of 2005. The telecoms sector is expected to receive around USD2 billion worth of investment by the end of the year.
