Subs up but profits down at Elisa

28 Apr 2005

The Finnish telco Elisa has reported a fall in first-quarter pre-tax profit to EUR39 million, from EUR56 million in the same period last year. Revenues remained stable at EUR333 million. Elisa provides both fixed line and cellular services; mobile subscriber numbers increased by 55,000 in the three months to the end of March to 1.44 million, while the number of wireline customers, including PSTN, broadband and cable TV users, rose from 1.22 million to 1.25 million. The company says it expects revenues for 2005 to be slighter lower than last year due to new interconnection rates and lower tariffs.
