PTA warns Ufone/Mobilink over poor services

27 Apr 2005

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has issued two ‘show cause’ notices to initiate proceedings against mobile operators Ufone and Mobilink, after conducting quality of service (QoS) surveys on their networks. Under section 23 of the Pakistan Telecom (Re-organisation) Act 1996, the two operators could face fines of up to PKR350 million and have their licences terminated if they do not improve the quality of their services. Ufone and Mobilink have been given 30 days to respond to the proceedings.
