Telfort takes it to the EDGE

21 Apr 2005

Telfort, the fourth largest of the five mobile operators in the Netherlands, has launched its EDGE-based services under the name Breedband van Telfort, giving subscribers faster access to applications such as e-mail, music downloads and streaming video. According to Telecompaper, customers can choose between a tariff per KB, a bundle of minutes, or a flat-rate charge of EUR50 per month for unlimited use up to a maximum of 1GB. A 50% reduction in charges will be in force until September to compensate for the limited coverage while the technology is rolled out; nationwide coverage is due by July. Telfort had around 1.9 million subscribers at the end of December, giving it a 12% share of the Dutch mobile market.
