11 Apr 2005

Bangladeshi mobile market leader GrameenPhone claimed yesterday that its subscriber base had reached three million by the end of last month. The company’s latest milestone signifies net growth of around a million customers in the last six months. GrameenPhone launched GSM services in April 1997 and had signed up its first million users by the end of September 2003, reaching two million a year later. It has pledged to invest USD250 million in its GSM network in a bid to reach its goal of four million subscribers by the end of 2005.
