Celtel Uganda says it’s ‘business as usual’ under MTC

5 Apr 2005

Mr Tim Bahrani, the managing director of cellco Celtel Uganda, has released a statement saying that the recent USD3.32 billion acquisition of the Celtel International group by Kuwaiti mobile giant MTC-Vodafone will not cause any significant change in the company’s domestic operations. Bahrani said that Celtel’s Ugandan board of directors and top management will remain unaltered. He added that he was very optimistic about the future prospects for the Ugandan division, especially with regards to new investment opportunities under MTC’s ownership, facilitating improvements to network coverage, capacity and product range.
