TMIB to launch GPRS next month

29 Mar 2005

Telekom Malaysia International Bangladesh (TMIB), the second largest cellco in Bangladesh, will launch GPRS services in April. According to chief operating officer Vijay Watson, TMIB will follow up the launch with several other value added services over the coming year as part of its plan to double its subscriber base by year-end. The company, which had over 1.35 million subscribers at the end of last month, plans to invest USD300 million over the next two years to expand network coverage. TMIB launched GSM mobile services under the brand name Aktel in November 1997, a year after receiving its 15-year licence.
