Warid and Telenor sign interconnection agreement

Pakistan’s two newest cellcos, Telenor and Warid Telecom, have signed an interconnection agreement with each other, giving Telenor direct interconnection with the country’s existing cellular operators. Shahzada Alam Malik, the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), has confirmed that Warid Telecom and Telenor will both launch services within a month. He went on to say that he expects the launches to encourage the number of mobile users in the country rise to 15 million by the end of this year, and to 35 million within three to four years.
