Ugandan subscribers get electronic top-up service

4 Mar 2005

Ugandan wireless operator Celtel has introduced the country’s first electronic mobile phone call top-up service. Previously, mobile users’ only available method of adding talk minutes was via physical recharge vouchers (referred to locally as ‘scratch cards’). The new service is so far available from 200 dealers nationwide, with a more extensive rollout expected in the near future.
