M-Tel announces mobile expansion plan

Nigerian mobile operator Nitel GSM (M-Tel) has announced plans to expand the reach of its GSM network to all of the 776 local government areas in the country by May 2005. To this end it has signed deals with Sweden’s Ericsson, ZTE of China and Motorola. M-Tel’s chief marketing officer Prince, A B Apampa, added that the company hopes to launch its GPRS system by the end of this month.
