Telus fourth quarter net income triples

Telus’ fourth quarter net income climbed from CAD47.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2003 to CAD135.6 million in 2004 as a result of a stronger than expected performance by its wireless operations. Revenues were up 7.6% to CAD1.96 billion from CAD1.83 billion. Net additions at the company’s wireless arm were 186,400 in the final quarter of the year, 12% more than a year earlier, 78% of which subscribed to a post-paid plan. Blended monthly churn improved to 1.45% from 1.58% and post-paid churn was 1.17%.
