‘Esat’ tag to disappear in 2005

31 Jan 2005

BT’s Irish arm is dropping the ‘Esat’ part of its name later this year, five years after the UK heavyweight bought Denis O’Brien’s Esat Telecom venture for EUR317 million. The company was re-branded Esat BT in 2002, although a spokeswoman for the telco said it was always the intention to switch the name eventually. The change will take place during the next financial year, which begins in April.
