CAT’s rivals unfazed by expansion plans

28 Jan 2005

Thailand’s mobile operators have said that they are not worried about rival CAT’s plans to expand its CDMA network, claiming that they are confident that they can hold on to their subscribers and maintain their market position. CAT contracted equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies to expand its nationwide CDMA network on Monday; Huawei will construct 1,600 base stations in 51 provinces. The largest operator in the country, Advanced Information Services (AIS), and number two cellco DTAC, both operate GSM networks in Thailand.
