Peruvian telecoms regulator Osiptel has given the go-ahead for a quartet of telephony projects in rural areas, in total valued at USD20 million. Under the first project public telephones will be installed in 1,134 isolated locations, while in the second broadband connectivity will be rolled out to 3,000 places. The third project will involve providing wireless coverage in four ‘economic corridors’ while the last aims to take the internet to all district capitals.
