Cellcos capitalise on mobile data services boom

6 Jan 2005

Thailand’s mobile non-voice market is expected to generate revenues of THB14 billion (USD357.5 million) this year, with the country’s leading wireless players planning to invest billions in mobile data services, according to the Bangkok Post. Wireless market leader AIS already has around 2.4 million data users and has set a target for non-voice revenues in 2005 of THB10 billion, an increase of THB2 billion on last year’s turnover. The total number of mobile data users in the country has risen dramatically, topping four million by the end of 2004.
