Eurotel expands CDMA coverage

4 Jan 2005

Czech cellco Eurotel Praha has said it inaugurated 40 new CDMA base stations in December to improve the capacity and coverage of the Eurotel Data Express high speed mobile internet service. The service is offered over Eurotel’s CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network, which is being built by Nortel Networks and is based on 450MHz frequencies. The network will offer data transmission at speeds of up to 500kbps and Eurotel aims to market the data-only service as an alternative to fixed broadband solutions such as DSL. Eurotel claims Eurotel Data Express currently has around 28,000 customers.
