MTC-Vodafone set for 3G launch

Mobile operator MTC-Vodafone has revealed plans to roll out 3G services in Bahrain this week, a move which will mark the first anniversary of its launch in the country on 16 December 2003. The company’s COO Khaled Al Farkh said that the cellco hoped to provide nationwide 3G coverage by the end of this year; it is also testing the new technology in Kuwait, and hopes to link the two companies with a comprehensive 3G network in the future. MTC-Vodafone Bahrain has recently signed up its 100,000th customer.
