13 Dec 2004

Dutch entrepreneur John de Mol, the founder of reality TV show Big Brother, has raised his stake in the country’s alternative telco Versatel from 25.06% to 41.7%, adding weight to rumours that he might be looking to take over the company. A spokesperson for Mr de Mol said that he regards Versatel as a good candidate for consolidation. The telco said it heard about the move through the securities regulator’s website.
