Huawei planning Pakistani investments

12 Nov 2004

Chinese equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies has said that it plans to invest USD200 million over the next six months in the establishment of GSM and CDMA handset assembling plants in Pakistan. The Chinese company, which has already invested a similar amount in ramping up its Pakistani presence, has also been awarded a major contract to deploy a nationwide wireless in the local loop (WiLL) network for the Pakistan Telecommunications Company (PTCL). In February this year PTCL launched a USD500 million project to provide telephone connections to the remote areas of the country via WiLL technology.
