Sheba becomes Bangalink

21 Oct 2004

Orascom Telecom, the new owner of Bangladeshi wireless operator Sheba Telecom, has announced that the company will rebrand under the name Bangalink. Orascom expects to invest USD250 million in its new subsidiary with the next two years and hopes to attract up to four million customers. However, in order to meet its subscriber goals the company will have to convince the government that it should have access to frequencies in the 1800MHz; as it stands its network has a maximum capacity of a million customers.
