Flag cable faces six month delay

6 Oct 2004

Global network operator Flag Telecom says that the completion of its 6,900 kilometre underwater cable link between Suez, Muscat and Mumbai looks set to be delayed by up to six months as it struggles to sign supply contracts with vendors. The USD300 million Falcon project was due to have been completed by February, but Flag is still in final talks with a shortlist of equipment suppliers; the cable is now expected to be launched in the final quarter of 2005.
