Dutch broadband users soar

The number of broadband subscribers in the Netherlands increased by 77% to 2.525 million in the year to 30 June 2004, according to the latest government figures. The local arm of French ISP Wanadoo is the largest service provider, with 401,500 customers, of which 200,000 use ADSL and the rest cable. Next best is chello, the internet arm of cable TV company UGC Europe, with 365,800 broadband cable subscribers, followed by fellow cable ISP @home, with 360,000. Planet Internet is still the largest ADSL provider with 341,000 customers, followed by Tiscali (151,000), XS4ALL (147,000), Zon (144,000) and Het Net (138,000).
