Pakistan offers to assist Bangladeshi liberalisation process

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology has offered to help Bangladesh deregulate its telecommunications industry, during an official visit to Islamabad from a delegation led by Mahmood Hassan Mansur, secretary for Bangladesh’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. The two countries have agreed to cooperate and share resources to develop their respective telecoms markets. Bangladesh has low fixed line and mobile penetration rates, but hopes to benefit from Pakistan’s recent successes in licensing new wireline and wireless operators.
