Esat BT admits to overcharging error

15 Jul 2004

Esat BT has admitted to overcharging around 1,900 Irish customers a total of EUR57,000 for a service they never received. The error emerged after customers received incorrect bills charging them EUR30 relating to the inclusion of an out of date customer database in a recent billing cycle. Esat BT plans to write to its subscribers to confirm that no charges will be levied. The mistake follows similar admissions from Vodafone and O2 Ireland which are now both the subject of an investigation by the Consumer Association.
