BT responds to Ofcom

25 Jun 2004

Fixed line incumbent BT Group has asked industry watchdog Ofcom to adapt its regulatory regime to keep pace with the rapidly evolving technology in the telecoms market. BT has called for the changes in response to Ofcom’s consultation on its strategic review of the sector, with the incumbent saying that it is essential that players in the market have faith in the regulatory regime in order to fulfil the market’s potential. In particular, the telco wants a move away from micro-regulation and market share to focus on barriers to entry and the encouragement of increased investment in infrastructure.
