ICE to buy 600,000 GSM lines

14 Jun 2004

Costa Rican state-owned electric power and telecoms company ICE has struck a deal with Ericsson to purchase 600,000 GSM lines for USD130.2 million. The contract has been signed but ICE needs to gain the approval of the country’s comptroller general before the transaction actually goes ahead. The operator hopes to begin network construction at the end of July, with tests beginning in early 2005.
