NCC shuts down six illegal operators

7 Jun 2004

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has closed down six unlicensed telecoms operators, confiscating equipment, shutting down premises and arresting key officers at the companies. Over the past few weeks the NCC’s Enforcement Team has swooped on West Africa Telecommunications, Geni Systems, Next 2G Technologies, Micro Data Associates, Engineering International Networks and De-Haastrup Communications. The six were based in Victoria Island, Ikeja and Surulere. All six companies were either operating without a licence or providing services outside of those stipulated in their concession.
