3G gets off to a good start for TIM

25 May 2004

Italian cellco TIM was asked to supply 450,000 UMTS and EDGE handsets during its first day of taking 3G orders yesterday, indicating a promising outlook for the new service. TIM, which will compete with 3 Italia in the 3G sector, plans to offer services via EDGE over Nokia’s 6230 and 3200 handsets, and via UMTS over Sony Ericsson’s Z-1010 and Samsung’s Z-105-U.
