Nokia deploys i-series switches for DTAC

14 May 2004

Finnish equipment manufacturer Nokia says it has been selected by Thai mobile operator Digital Total Access Communications (DTAC) to upgrade the cellco’s entire core GSM/GPRS/EDGE network with high-capacity ‘i-series’ mobile switching centres. The upgrade is designed to bring greater flexibility to optimise DTAC’s fast-growing system; the cellco had over 6.83 million subscribers at the end of February, a market share of 29.7%. Work is scheduled for completion in July 2004.
