Scancom to roll out Africa’s first EDGE network

Ghana’s leading telco, Scancom, has contracted Finland’s Omnitel to upgrade its current radio network to support EDGE technology. The new EDGE network will be the first of its kind in Africa and Scancom hopes it will boost its market share – which stood at 67% at the end of 2003 – further once it is complete.
