Idea’s Maharashtra circle hits one million subscribers

India’s Idea Cellular has hit the one million subscribers mark in its Maharashtra circle, the first of its circles to do so. Idea, which recently acquired rival operator Escotel, covers around 60% of India’s population and around 65% of the country’s potential telecoms market. It has a presence in eleven circles and a customer base of around 3.3 million.
