Irish mobile: All the news that’s fit to print!

Irish cellco Meteor has contracted Ericsson to be its sole supplier of core infrastructure for its GSM network. The agreement will see Ericsson expand the operator’s network over the next four years, including upgrading it to be fully EDGE capable.

Meanwhile Irish-headquartered budget airline Ryanair has delayed the introduction of its planned MVNO mobile service to concentrate instead on its recently launched discount fixed line telecoms operations throughout Europe. A spokeswoman said the MVNO service had been delayed ‘by a couple of weeks’.
