Digicel looking to cut C&W out of the fibre optic loop

Jamaican mobile operator Digicel plans to invest between USD40 million and USD80 million to roll out a pan-Caribbean fibre optic network in an attempt to cut out Cable & Wireless’ (C&W) backhaul costs. The majority of Caribbean operators rely on C&W’s backbone network, which Digicel claims is now reaching capacity.
