Samsung and Nokia – it’s good to Push to Talk

24 Feb 2004

Mobile handsets manufacturers Nokia and Samsung have entered into a joint cooperation agreement designed to develop Push to Talk-over-cellular (PoC) technology for the mass market. The South Korea-based handset maker intends to introduce push to talk to several models over the course of 2004/05 using PoC technology developed by its Finnish counterpart. Nokia, in turn, is looking to launch push to talk capable GSM phones, including Symbian OS-based smartphones, and from 2005 hopes to phase in PoC for all its GPRS and W-CDMA terminals.
