SingTel keen to get involved at PTCL?

18 Feb 2004

The chief executive of SingTel, Lee Hsien Yang, yesterday met with Pakistani president General Pervez Musharraf, prompting widespread speculation that the Singaporean operator is eager to be the first in line when the government puts 26% of incumbent operator PTCL up for sale later in the year. In recent weeks Yang has gone on record as saying his company views Pakistan as a key area for future investment. SingTel is also expected to be one of the main players in the auction of Pakistan’s fifth cellular licence next month.
