Microcell opts for Nortel 3G solution

Microcell Solutions says its has amended a contract with Nortel Networks making the manufacturer its sole supplier for GSM and UMTS core wireless network until 31 December 2006; the alteration of terms is said to be worth USD50 million to Nortel. Microcell, a wholly owned subsidiary of Microcell Telecommunication, provides personal communications services (PCS) in Canada under the brand name Fido.
