Nokia announces 2004 restructuring plan

Finnish equipment manufacturer Nokia proposes to conduct a major restructuring exercise from 1 January 2004 which will see the company’s main business areas reduced from four to two. Nokia will also cease to be a purely mobile phone and systems manufacturer and in future will diversify into other sectors such as the gaming console, camera-phone and devices for business markets.
