UMTS rollout process Czeched

8 Dec 2003

The Czech government has agreed to postpone the rollout of 3G services by one year, to 1 January 2006, in return for which the UMTS licence holders will speed up the payment of their licence fees. Under the original terms of their licence awards, Eurotel Prague and T-Mobile Czech Republic were to have paid the licence fee in instalments that would have finished in 2011. However, the two will now pay the full amount of CZK4.86 billion (USD181.3 million) in two blocks – due in April and August next year.
