Agreement on 3G licence changes to be signed

12 Nov 2003

The Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) is expected to sign a pact with mobile operators EuroTel and T-Mobile over changed conditions for the operation of 3G networks in the country. Under the terms of the contract, which is expected to be signed within two weeks, the two cellcos are required to pay off the remaining CZK4.4 billion owed for the concessions in one payment next year, instead of spreading it over eight-years. In return they will be given a one year extension on the deadline for rolling out services; the new 3G launch date is 1 January 2006.
