Nokia puts handset explosions down to third party batteries

21 Oct 2003

Finland-based handset maker Nokia has concluded that non-original batteries were used in all reported explosions of Nokia handsets, causing a short circuit to occur inside the phones. The company said it will cooperate with authorities in taking legal measures against sellers and distributers of the poor quality compatible batteries. It also plans to offer training to help customers distinguish between original and counterfeit products.
