France Télécom looking to increase Jordan stake

13 Oct 2003

The CEO of Jordan Telecom has revealed that its parent company France Télécom is preparing to buy an additional 4%-5% stake in the operator. Laurent Mialet claims that his opposite number at France Télécom, Thierry Breton, suggested the purchase to King Abdullah of Jordan during the monarch’s visit to Paris earlier this month. The French telco currently holds 40% of Jordan Telecom through its holding company Jedco, which it (88%) owns in conjunction with the Arab Bank.
