Vodafone Telcel joins list of those wanting 3G launch delayed

10 Oct 2003

Vodafone Telcel is to ask the Portuguese telecoms regulator Anacom for permission to put back the launch of its UMTS service to the second half of 2004, as opposed to the end-2003 date stipulated in its licence, according to local media reports. Vodafone has cited a lack of 3G equipment as the motivating force behind its request. Its rivals Optimus and TMN are also asking for a delay.
