Cesky Telecom to cut 1,800 jobs

27 Aug 2003

Czech PTO Cesky Telecom has announced that it will lay off 1,800 employees by the end of 2003 as part of a cost cutting plan. The operators said it will have a total of 10,900 workers by the end of the year, compared with 13,700 twelve months earlier. It did not say how much money the cuts would save, but claims that the reasoning behind the redundancies is to achieve maximum cost savings while maintaining effectiveness.
