Wataniya reports record revenue growth and doubles profits in 1H 2003

Kuwait’s second national GSM operator National Mobile Telecommunications Co (Wataniya Telecom) witnessed a 74.1% growth in revenues year-on-year for the first half of 2003. Wataniya reported turnover of KWD71.09 million in the six months to 30 June, as its total customer base reached 876,413, of which 125,828 were subscribers to its Tunisian subsidiary Tunisiana. Net profit for the period more than doubled to KWD15.2 million, whilst average revenue per user (ARPU) grew slightly, from KWD12.37 to KWD12.7.
