C&W Jamaica launches GPRS

Cable & Wireless (C&W) has launched a GPRS network in Jamaica, using equipment provided by Nortel Networks. Nortel signed a contract with C&W West Indies in November 2002 for the build-out of the network in twelve countries in the Caribbean. C&W hopes to have launched GPRS networks in the Cayman Islands and Barbados, among others, by the end of September.
