Naming of Ireland’s USP

17 Jul 2003

Ireland’s regulatory agency, the Commission of Communications Regulation (ComReg), has announced plans to designate eircom as the universal service provider (USP) of Ireland. The decision comes as a result of recent changes in the regulatory framework of the European Union. The new changes, such as the creation of universal services, are designed to ensure that a state’s citizens have access to basic telecommunication services at reasonable prices.
