Privatisation on the horizon

18 Jun 2003

Authorities in Oman have made moves to privatise the country’s telecoms sector, by forming a holding company and announcing that 30% of shares are to be put up for sale through Muscat Securities Market. The Ministry of Finance said that incumbent Omantel was establishing two separate entities to operate fixed and wireless services. The reorganisation is to be completed by the end of this year.
