Tele2 takes control of Suomen 3G

Pan-European telecoms operator Tele2 has acquired the remaining shares of Finnish mobile operator Suomen 3G for EUR7.9 million. The purchase price is believed to be equivalent to the proportion of the cash position acquired by Tele2. Suomen 3G is one of four UMTS licensees in Finland and has already built 3G infrastructure in nine cities. Licence stipulations require it to have rolled out services to 18 cities by the end of 2003.
